What to wear on the water
DURING THE WINTER MONTHS: Remember the air and water temperature is only just above freezing, so the right clothing during and after outings is crucial. All athletes should be starting outings in long sleeves and possibly long trousers. Please don’t start an outing in shorts and t-shirts. This is not enough and you may not be allowed to boat. Also remember to bring warm kit for after your outing as you will cool down quickly once you are off the water.
GENERAL ON-WATER SAFETY RULES:
- When on the water, no hoodies, no loose clothing, no clothing with large pockets. This is to make sure clothing doesn’t get caught on runners or oars.
- It is also a good idea to wear high visibility / bright clothing when on the water.
Saturday sessions
- Saturday morning sessions are usually a double session, so please bring water and snacks for between sessions.
- Juniors are asked to bring a towel and spare set of clothes in case of capsize – though we have spare in the clubhouse if your child forgets.
- For ease of getting in and out of the boat, we recommend Juniors bring “sliders” (these are plastic slip on shoes).
What to wear for training
You should wear fitted (not loose) sportswear – this to ensure that clothing doesn’t get caught on the slide of the ergo or on other gym equipment.
Please wear clean trainers inside the boathouse.
