29-Jun-09: Yes following qualification for the "Diamonds" last Friday, EERC's Nick Baker has drawn Olympic Finallist and 3 x world champion, Mahe Drysdale of New Zealand in the 1st round at Henley Royal Regatta. The race is on Thursday so those with flexible working why not try and get down and give Nick a good old "holler". We all wish him well..

More wins @ Richmond
29-Jun-09: This Saturday (27th) saw 4 boats competing. The womens IM3 4+ (coxed by Karen Bevan) of Kirsty Watson, Hannah Gammie, Jennie Saunders and Melissa Heathcote contimnued their winning run by makiing it 2 "pots" in 2 regattas this season, by beating a Twickenham crew on home waters in the heat and then a you Molesey crew in the final. The younger ladies (Lydia Mourad and Harriet Shurley) competing in IM2 doubles, also came up trumps, beating ? and ? in heat and final to take the pots. James Cosham competing in his first regatta since 2003/4 in noveice mens singles came close by winning 2 rounds but losing in the final. The final crew, mens IM3 4+ (coxed by Yvonne Van der Hiede) of Richard Fulton, Jez Brown, Simon Russel and Charlie Morrow won their first round but lost in the semi

Egham on Sunday
27-Jun-09: It's a rowing institution; Egham 'INTERNATIONAL' Regatta is on Sunday and well worth a visit especially if the great weather holds. If you are new to the club, it's a great day out and just down the road at Runnymede which is just beyond Old Windsor on the A308 towards Staines.

27-Jun-09: Former Excelsior Junior squad athlete, Alfie Horn, son of the legendary Al, now rows for Windsor Boys' School and has been doing rather well in regattas recently. Look out for reports in both local Windsor papers this week.

Pask wins Bronze again for GB
20-Jun-09: Local lad, Adam Freeman-Pask, who started rowing at Windsor Boys' School Boat Club just down the river, has won a second Bronze medal for GB in the LM 1X event in Munich today (Friday). Readers may recall that Adam also won Bronze at the last World Cup Regatta in Banyoles, Spain.

Vet Ladies Medal at Nat Vets!
15-Jun-09: Not just any medal, but a GOLD medal! Racing in the Vet B IM3 category at the National Veterans' regatta at the Nottingham Water Sports Centre last weekend, Ceri Davies, Lisa Liggett, Amy Hewitt, Sarah Jackson with cox Pete Clements won gold. Congratulations Ladies. No more details to hand right now but keep an eye on the local papers for some coverage.

09-Jun-09: Eton Excelsior Rowing Club is looking for an ambitious individual to help coach their junior squad starting in September 2009. The successful applicant will need to be CRB cleared and hold a current level 2, or higher, coaching qualification.

Novice 4+ and 2X win at Walton
07-Jun-09: At Walton regatta this weekend, our Novice mens coxed four (Jack, Richard, Haydn, Charlie, ably coxed by Yvonne) beat local club Walton in their first heat (verdict; easily) and went on to beat Twickenham (verdict; easily). Up against the Molesey Titans, our plucky chaps beat them by 1.5 lengths to win the final! Well done lads. Pictures now in the 2008-9 season Photo Gallery.

Take Care
04-Jun-09: We're in the middle of the racing season and so our crews are out on the river practicing their "pieces" and starts. Keep a good look out for other boats when on the water to avoid collisions. Just a shout of 'take a look' is all it takes. Don't assume that the bow man in the other boat has seen you! If you see congestion on your way up the river, warn others coming down to keep a look out.
