Captain Elect
23-Jul-10: The Captain Elect form is up on the notice board and the meeting will take place on Sunday 22nd August at 12pm.
Club Cleanup
23-Jul-10: It's time again to give the club a thorough clean in preparation for Pubs & Clubs and the new season. Please come down to help on Sunday 1st August. We'll start at 9.30 so there's time for a an early outing. We need everybody to get involved as many hands make light work. Thanks
Eton Excelsior medal haul at British Rowing Championships
23-Jul-10: EERC juniors came away with their biggest ever haul of medals, a Gold, Silver and two Bronze, from the British Rowing Championships which were held last weekend at Strathclyde Country Park in Scotland. Despite the near storm force winds and driving rain (which also disrupted the Open at nearby St Andrews), the club came away with medals in 4 of the 5 events that they entered.

22-Jul-10: Last weekend left the Novice Women's crew with two things - the Guiness World record for the shortest race time, without actually winning, and a dented boat/pride, the latter coming off worse.

16-Jul-10: If any of the club members have photographs or film taken during the rowing year that may be suitable for the Adults end-of-season rowing DVD, please can they copy the material to disk and pass a copy to Lisa Liggett, Andrew Williams or Paula Jones ASAP.
Kathy takes Henley Veteran's Prize
14-Jul-10: After the success of Eton Excelsior Rowing Club veterans at the British Master Championships in June EERC were looking forward to some more good racing at the Henley Veteran’s regatta – renowned for the strength of ex-internationals & competitors from overseas. The Club came up trumps in the form of Kathy Johnson in the women’s singles event. Despite the choppy conditions Kathy sculled steadily, in her 1st round, to bet her Portuguese opposition, Pereira, by four lengths. Her semi-final was equally convincing beating her opposition by two lengths to progress to the final in which Kathy came up against strong opposition in the form of Smith from Australia. Kathy had a quick start and nudged into the lead. Despite the headwind she was able to build on her lead on Smith winning the final and Henley Veteran’s gold by two lengths!

Kit deadline approaching
17-Mar-10: The window for ordering club kit via DiBi will close on March 28th at 5pm. This will be the last chance to order kit before the regatta season.

12-Mar-10: This years sponsored row will take place between Henley and Eton on Saturday 17th April. More details will be released soon but we hope the date is already in your diary and you have been forming crews to row with on the day.
Womens Head of the River Race
12-Mar-10: This Saturday at 3pm the novice ladies will take to the Tideway for their first race as a crew and indeed their first race for many of them! After the recent disappointments of the cancellation of Burway and Reading Head, the big one has finally arrived.

River Conditions
Captain's Blog *Latest* Thu, 22-Jul-10
News just in from a very wet and Windy Strathclyde where our junior squad put in their best ever performance at the National Championships. Sasha Quarrington and Katherine Maitland took the club’s first ever gold medal in the WJ14 double event and are now National Champions. In the WJ15 single sculls final, Ally French won the silver medal. Amani, Alex, Sasha & Katherine coxed by Matilda then raced in the WJ14 quad event where they won bronze. Ally, Lucy, Misha and Georgia coxed by Priyanka raced in the WJ15 quad where they also took a bronze medal. Courtney & John Casey also raced at the Championships but did not progress beyond the first round. Eton old girl Matilda Horn raced twice for Marlow collecting a further 2 silver medals to add to her coxing bronze. A very well done to all our juniors who competed and to Al, Mark, John and the other parents who support our junior squad all year. Check out the regatta reporst and local press for more details.
