ABINGDON HEAD SUCCESS

Well done to all those who raced at Abingdon Head on Sunday.  Everyone performed very well in the last race of the winter season - but special congratulations go to Ben and Haydn who won in their IM1 2- category, to Kathy and Sian who both won in their singles and to Kathy, Sian, Amy and Alicia who also won in their WMas 2x events.  Big thanks to all the EERC Coaching Teams and to the athletes in all squads for a great 2011/12 Head Racing season and very best of luck for a pot-filled summer!

SUPPORT MARATHON MAN ED FARRELL

Ed Farrell, former Captain of EERC and current Vice President, is off to Morocco in 2 weeks to run the 2012 Marathon des Sables and is raising money for BLESMA (British Limbless Ex Service Men's Association).

Six days, 154 miles, desert terrain, 50 degree heat, carrying all you need to survive - no wonder they call it "the toughest foot race on earth". Many of you know Ed, and his usual relaxed approach to life. That said, he is nothing but determined and having just completed an MBA through Warwick Business School, Ed started his next campaign the day after graduation. Read more »

Way to Row Matilda and Connie

Two of EERC’s former juniors Matilda and Connie won the W IM3 8+ Pennant at the Hammersmith Head on Sunday racing in University of London's women’s first eight. Read more »

From Burway to Boston

Although it was a cold and blustery day the EERC Juniors still came away with four wins at Burway Head. Congratulations to the WJ18 4x crew of Harriet, Lucy H, Leyla and Zoe who not only won their event but they were also timed as the fastest women’s crew of the day. Read more »

Head Race Update

Despite the freezing cold weather Eton Excelsior crews from the Master, Senior and Junior squads were still up for the challenges of head racing. At the end of January Senior and Master crews competed at the Thames Valley Trial Head at Dorney Lake. Read more »

Atlantic Odyssey rowers rescued after capsizing - Yaacov and crew safe

Some of you may know that EERC member Yaacov Mutnikas has been involved in a challenge to row the Atlantic.  Unfortunately they got into difficulties and their boat capsized but we're very relieved to hear that they are all now safe.

Tuesday 31st January - Club Supper Night is BACK!  We're giving it a try to see how many people are interested.  If you think it's a good idea, please support it and we'll make it a regular thing.  The bar will be open from 8pm (after circuits) and food will be available at the cost of £5 per person.  Please write your name on the sign up sheet so we know how much food needs to be bought. EERC CHRISTMAS RAFFLE

EERC want to wish everyone a merry Christmas, so please come and join us on Saturday 17th December at 7.30pm for mulled wine and mince pies at the clubhouse.  The bar will also be open throughout the evening.


In order to raise money for the club, a raffle will take place during the evening.  The main prize will be an amazing Christmas hamper comprising of M & S wine, Scottish shortbread, Italian biscuits, Lindt chocolates, homemade jams, chutneys and jellies, a book, Seal socks and much more! FUNDRAISING SUCCESS!

A couple of fund-raising success stories! 

The Junior Rowing Tour this year has raised over £2300 for the club!  Many thanks and congratulations to all who took part, supported and helped to organise. 

The recent Fish & Chip quiz night raised around £600 - and again, huge thanks to everyone who came along and to Alfie for organising it all. 

Some of the money from these events is being spent on new equipment for the gym area so look out for some great new training tools that will be available to everyone.  The rest will go towards essenti Read more »
