Squads

Squad Structure for 2010/11

For the 2010/11 season the adult rowers fall into four categories:-

Intermediate/Senior rowing

Athletes: Experienced athletes with goals at club and National level.

  • Goals: Race at Intermediate and Senior level
  • Training programme: Land training 4 evenings per week. Outings Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Novice rowing

  • Goals: Winning at novice level mainly in coxed sweep boats
  • Training: Land training on Tuesday and Thrusday.  Outings Saturday mornings

Master rowing

Athletes: Experienced athletes, capable of training 3 evenings and both days at the weekend who want to compete at local and National Master events. As well as those athletes for who it may be more appropriate to compete at Master Novice rather than Open class.

  • Goals: Compete at local regattas; Compete at National Masters, Henley Master, FISA Masters.
  • Training Programme: Land training as much as wish of the Mon - Thur. Outings Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Foundation rowing

Athletes: Athletes new to the sport, entry usually from Learn to Row courses and Pubs and Clubs; who either want to progress to row a a more experienced level or to continue to row recreationally.

  • Goals: To improve rowing and enjoy the sport. For some, progression to novice competition is a goal.
  • Training: Encouraged to attend land training on tuesday and thrusday.  Outing Sunday at 10:00
